What Inspired Us

Breed Focus Media began with an elephant named Medo.

During a family trip to Thailand, we visited Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, a rescue and rehabilitation center dedicated to giving elephants who have endured exploitation, injury, and neglect the opportunity to live with freedom, dignity, and care.

It was there that we learned Medo’s story.

Medo’s life had been shaped by years of exploitation. She began working in illegal logging at a young age, where a serious injury left her with a permanently damaged ankle. She was later forced into a breeding program. When she resisted a bull chained beside her, she was violently attacked and suffered a dislocated hip. Unable to continue working normally, she spent years pulling logs for a remote village and was kept chained in isolation when she wasn’t working.

Eventually, she was rescued and brought to Elephant Nature Park. Meeting Medo, seeing what this amazing sanctuary could give back to an animal who had already endured so much, stayed with us long after we left Thailand.

So did something else.

Behind Medo’s second chance were people who had decided that her life mattered. People willing to rescue, advocate, care, educate, and keep going.

We began thinking about how many stories like hers exist around the world. How many small organizations, sanctuaries, nonprofits, and individuals are doing extraordinary work every day without nearly enough people knowing their names.

That idea became Breed Focus Media.

We are a purpose-driven media company focused on telling authentic, visually compelling stories about people and organizations doing work that deserves to be seen. Through documentary-style storytelling, we hope to bring audiences closer to meaningful causes—not simply to create awareness; we want to inspire action.

We want to help people discover the causes that speak to them, connect with their passion, and find their own way to become part of the story.

That might mean donating. Volunteering. Visiting. Adopting. Advocating. Sharing a story, maybe simply seeing something differently than you did before.

For our family, that connection began thousands of miles from home, standing beside an elephant named Medo.

One story created a connection. That connection created a purpose.

And that purpose became Breed Focus Media.

Meet the Elephant Who Started It All.

                                  Nicole Breed

       Co-Founder | CEO | Host | Content Creator

Nicole is a six-year U.S. Navy veteran who later discovered a very different kind of service through her work with the YMCA. Her career in the nonprofit world gave her a passion for the extraordinary work happening in communities every day, and how important it is for those stories to be told!

Nicole brings heart, curiosity, and the storytelling voice to Breed Focus Media. Her goal is simple: help people feel something—and then give them a way to do something with that feeling.

The People Behind the Purpose

                                                                                                                    Nicole & Ryan Breed

Married for more than 20 years, Nicole and Ryan Breed have built a life around family, service, travel, and a shared appreciation for meaningful experiences. Together, they have two sons, one grandson, and a long history of saying yes to adventures.

Travel has always been a big part of their lives, but a family trip to Thailand—and their visit to Elephant Nature Park—changed the way they thought about traveling, purpose, and the power of connecting people with causes they care about. That experience helped inspire what would become Breed Focus Media.
